Programme prolonged: Knowledge for Tomorrow - Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Humanities in Sub Saharan Africa and North Africa
This project is financed by the Volkwagen Foundation and coordinated by the Leibniz Universität Hannover (Prof. Brigitte Reinwald, African History, Vice-Speaker of the CAGS). The Humanities Fellow group is – together with the Livelihood Management team – the youngest branch of the Foundation’s Africa Initiative. The objective of this project is to support excellent research in Sub-Saharan and North Africa and to reinforce the collaboration between African post-doctoral scholars and their German partners.
A first round of the Funding Initiative was started in 2013. In 2016, a second round of the Funding Initiative has been started and goes until 2019. A selection conference took place at Hannover, Germany in July 2016. 11 research projects were choosen for funding by an international jury. These projects cover a broad range of subjects from the humanities.
